Decent Benefits for a Growing Fintech Startup
Pros: The health benefits are actually quite good, definitely above average for a startup of this size. You get a solid 401k match which is a nice perk. A WFH stipend helps with your home office setup too, which is great for us remote workers.
Cons: Compensation isn't top-tier, especially for software engineer roles in this market. I've seen better base salaries at other fintech companies. Stock options are fine, but the valuation isn't clear, so it's a bit of a gamble.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate compensation bands for engineering talent to be more competitive. Transparency on equity value would also be helpful for employees.

Pros: The team's really smart and collaborative, which is great for any engineering role. You work on genuinely impactful projects in the mobile financing sector. They're pretty good about remote work flexibility, which I appreciated.
Cons: Sometimes the company goals shift pretty fast, making things a bit tough. It's definitely still a startup, so don't expect super polished processes. You might feel a lot of pressure to deliver quickly.
Advice to Management: Try to communicate strategic shifts more clearly and consistently. Investing in more structured career development paths for engineering teams would also be beneficial.

Okay Flexibility, Needs Some Tweaks
Pros: I work remote from Texas, which is a huge plus. For Software Engineer roles, there's good flexibility on daily hours, so I can run errands. It's nice to manage my own schedule in this mobile lending industry.
Cons: Project deadlines can be pretty tight, making it hard to take off spontaneously. There isn't a strong culture for impromptu WFH days for those in hybrid. Sometimes you feel a bit chained to your desk.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer project scoping to prevent last-minute rushes. Encourage true work flexibility across all roles, not just remote ones.
