Junior Software Engineer

Flexible Work, Supportive Team, Great for Learning
Pros: I've really enjoyed my time here as a Junior Software Engineer. The work flexibility is amazing; I can choose my hybrid schedule which helps a lot with personal commitments. My team is super supportive, always ready to help me learn new technologies and grow my skills in the software development industry. There are great opportunities to work on interesting projects too.
Cons: While the learning is great, I feel the career growth path could be a bit clearer, especially for junior roles in software development. Sometimes, the internal approval process for new tools or major changes can feel a little slow, which occasionally impacts project velocity. It's a minor hurdle in an otherwise very supportive and positive company culture, but improving communication on these processes could help.
Advice to Management: Clarify career progression paths for junior staff and streamline the approval process for new technologies or significant project changes to maintain momentum.

Decent flexibility if you're good at your job
Pros: I really liked the hybrid work option for civil engineers. Being able to work from home a couple of days a week helped a lot with personal appointments and commuting. It felt like management trusted us to get our engineering projects done.
Cons: Sometimes, project deadlines made the WFH option tough, especially for field-heavy consulting roles. It wasn't always clear how to request flexibility for urgent tasks. They could improve how work-life balance is communicated for those onsite in the Salt Lake City office.
Advice to Management: Make the guidelines for hybrid and remote work clearer, especially when project deadlines are tight. Support for work-life balance for all engineering teams would be great.

Decent flexibility for an engineering firm
Pros: You can usually adjust your daily start/end times, which is good for personal appointments. Management is generally understanding if you need to shift your schedule for an hour or two. Working mostly onsite is expected, but it's not super rigid.
Cons: It's tough to get true work-from-home options, especially for Project Engineer roles. This engineering firm still leans heavily on everyone being in the Salt Lake City office. Don't expect a lot of remote work or a fully flexible schedule.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more structured hybrid or remote options for roles that can support it. It would really help with employee retention and attract top talent who value work flexibility.
