Guest Services Representative

Engaging Team and Solid Learning in Hospitality
Pros: Working as a Guest Services Representative here has been a really positive experience. The team in San Francisco is incredibly supportive, and I've learned so much about the hospitality industry. There are great opportunities for training and developing your customer service skills. It's rewarding to help guests have a wonderful stay.
Cons: It gets pretty busy, especially during convention season, which can mean some long days. I feel like career growth can be a little slow if you don't actively seek out new roles, even with the internal mobility options.
Advice to Management: Continue to foster the supportive team environment and training programs. Consider more proactive guidance or clear pathways for internal career progression, especially for dedicated team members who might not always vocalize their ambitions.

Front Desk Associate

Decent Flexibility for Onsite Hotel Roles
Pros: They'll try to work with you on shift swaps if you plan ahead, especially as a Front Desk Associate. There's often coverage if you absolutely need time off, which is a plus in the busy hospitality industry.
Cons: Work-life balance can be a real struggle with mandatory overtime and last-minute schedule changes. There's basically no remote flexibility, as expected for an onsite hotel operations role.
Advice to Management: Try to be more predictable with scheduling, especially for the Front Desk Associate team. It helps morale a lot if people can plan their lives.

Front Desk Agent

Okay Pay, Good Hotel Discounts
Pros: The employee discounts on rooms are really good, definitely a perk for travel buffs. Health insurance benefits are pretty standard, not great but not terrible for a large corporate hotel. You do get paid every two weeks reliably, which is nice.
Cons: The base pay for a Front Desk Agent in Chicago is tough, it's just not enough to live comfortably here. Raises are small and don't keep up with inflation at all. It feels like they could do more for loyal, hardworking staff.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the entry-level salaries, especially for onsite staff in high cost-of-living areas like Chicago. Fair pay goes a long way for retention.
