Solid Pay for Field Techs, Benefits Are Just Okay
Pros: The hourly pay for a Field Service Technician is pretty competitive, especially with overtime. I always felt like my base salary was fair, even working onsite at various client locations. It's a decent gig in the mining and aggregates industry.
Cons: However, the health benefits weren't amazing. Deductibles felt high, and the 401k match could be better compared to other big corporate companies. There's not much flexibility with benefit choices either.
Advice to Management: Look into improving the health insurance plans and increasing the 401k match to attract and retain talent in the heavy machinery sector.

Job Security is Decent for Process Engineers
Pros: As a Process Engineer, you're pretty stable here. Metso is big in the mining industry and aggregates sector, so there's usually a steady pipeline of projects. The company size gives a good sense of stability too.
Cons: Market shifts in the minerals processing industry can make things a bit uncertain. Promotions aren't super fast, so internal career growth can be slow. Layoffs aren't common, but major project cancellations do happen.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving internal mobility and creating clearer paths for career growth within the different engineering and project management roles.

Decent Security for Field Service Roles
Pros: As a Field Service Engineer, I found job security here was pretty good. The demand in the mining and aggregates industry keeps us busy with long-term projects. They usually try to reallocate people if a project ends, which is a plus.
Cons: There have been some internal reorganizations, which can make you wonder about long-term stability. It's not always clear how the corporate structure changes will affect individual roles. Some project-based work can feel a bit unstable if you're not in a core team.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about future plans and how reorganizations impact employees. Clear communication helps a lot with job security concerns.
