Solid Tech Company, Good Growth
Pros: As a Software Engineer at Emerson in Austin, the job security is great. It's a stable company with good learning opportunities in industrial automation. Leadership is supportive of career development, and the hybrid work arrangement offers valuable flexibility. Team members are collaborative and helpful.
Cons: Some internal approval processes can be slow, which occasionally delays new initiatives. Faster promotion for high performers would definitely be appreciated.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining internal approval processes to boost agility and explore faster career progression paths for high-achieving employees. Improving cross-departmental communication would also be beneficial.

Emerson's Culture: Stable but Needs Modernizing
Pros: As a Project Manager in the Austin, TX office, I found the job security pretty solid. Benefits are decent, which is what you expect from a big corporate engineering firm. There are genuinely good people and some teams really click.
Cons: The company culture can feel really old school, especially when trying to innovate in industrial automation. Getting new ideas approved takes forever because of all the bureaucracy. It's not the most agile or dynamic place.
Advice to Management: Embrace more modern ways of working and empower teams to innovate without so much red tape. A more agile approach would help for our industrial automation solutions.

Okay for a big corporate, watch out for deadlines
Pros: The hybrid model is a plus, offering a few WFH days a week from the St. Louis, MO office. For a large corporate, the flexibility is decent most of the time for Software Engineer roles.
Cons: But work-life balance can get tough around major industrial automation project deadlines. Expect some longer hours then, especially during critical manufacturing tech testing phases.
Advice to Management: Try to level out the workload spikes for software development teams, especially around critical project delivery dates. More predictable schedules would help a lot.
