Decent work-life if you manage expectations
Pros: I appreciate the hybrid work model; it helps avoid that daily LA traffic. For many engineering roles, you can usually stick to 40-hour weeks if you're efficient. The unlimited PTO is nice, even if it's sometimes hard to use for a long stretch.
Cons: Project deadlines in this entertainment tech industry can get pretty intense, especially before major releases. On-call rotations can really mess with your personal life, and some teams have much heavier loads than others. It's not always easy to truly disconnect.

Flix Culture is Okay, Has Room to Grow
Pros: The projects are genuinely interesting, especially for a Software Engineer working on large-scale streaming services. You get to tackle big problems. Plus, the pay for big tech is pretty competitive, and the Los Gatos office environment is really nice.
Cons: Sometimes the company culture feels a bit too corporate and siloed. It's tough to get teams to truly collaborate on content delivery features. This can make the day-to-day feel slow, and honestly, the work-life balance isn't always great, especially with big deadlines looming.
Advice to Management: Try to foster more cross-team communication and collaboration. Breaking down those internal silos would really help us move faster and improve overall morale, especially for those of us working on core streaming platforms.

Job Security Here Feels a Bit Shaky
Pros: The pay and benefits for a Software Engineer are pretty solid. I've enjoyed the remote work flexibility, even remote from Los Angeles, which is a huge plus. My team is great and we get a lot of interesting projects in the digital content space.
Cons: Job security is a big concern here. There have been several rounds of tech layoffs, and it makes you constantly wonder if your role is next. This constant worry impacts morale across the big tech company.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about the company's financial health and future plans. It would help a lot with employee morale during these uncertain times for the streaming industry.
