Decent balance, but can get busy sometimes
Pros: I appreciate the hybrid model; it's usually 3 days in the Austin office, which is manageable. For Software Engineer roles, the standard 40-hour week is generally respected, which is great for personal time.
Cons: Some project deadlines can get really intense, making it tough to maintain that work-life balance. Also, the on-call rotation for the development teams can definitely mess with your off-hours.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project scope and deadlines to prevent burnout, especially for engineering teams. More support for those on-call rotations would also go a long way.

Career growth is slow, team is solid
Pros: The team camaraderie is excellent; everyone's pretty supportive, which helps a lot when you're learning new tech. For a mid-sized tech company, the benefits package is decent, especially the healthcare options. You do get to work on some interesting coding projects here.
Cons: Career growth is definitely a big con for me here. There aren't many clear paths for promotion, especially for entry-level tech roles like mine. I felt stuck after a year with no real advancement or clear guidance on how to get to the next level in the Austin, TX office. Development opportunities are limited, which impacts long-term career prospects.
Advice to Management: Hytech management really needs to establish clearer career progression frameworks for engineers. Providing more mentorship and actual pathways for promotion would significantly improve retention for entry-level tech roles.

Hybrid Model Needs Work for Dev Teams
Pros: You can pick your two in-office days, which is something. They do try to offer a bit of scheduling freedom if you need to start later or leave early sometimes. That's good for personal appointments.
Cons: The hybrid model isn't truly flexible; you're locked into specific onsite requirements for the Seattle office. There's pressure to be in, even when you don't really need to be, which makes focused work tough for a Software Engineer. It feels less about actual collaboration and more about just checking a box.
Advice to Management: Seriously reconsider the strict hybrid policy for dev teams. Trust your Software Engineers to know when they're most productive, whether it's onsite or remote. More genuine remote work options would really help productivity and morale across the tech industry.
