Pros: As a Data Engineer, the initial remote work setup was great. I've been working remote from Poland for most of my tenure. It's good to have some autonomy over my daily schedule for data analytics projects.
Cons: Lately, there's a push for more hybrid work, even for software development jobs that were fully remote. It's tough when they change the rules on flexible hours suddenly. Sometimes, client demands make truly flexible schedules hard to maintain.
Advice to Management: Revisit the remote work policies and ensure consistency. It would really help with retaining talent in the data analytics industry if flexibility was a core value, not just a temporary perk. Be clear about expectations for hybrid vs. fully remote employees.
