Standard Game Dev Balance at 2K Novato
Pros: It's great working on popular video game titles. As a Software Engineer, I get to build cool stuff. The team in the Novato office is pretty solid, and WFH is allowed outside of heavy crunch periods.
Cons: Work-life balance here is tough during big game releases. We often pull 60+ hour weeks. It's just part of the game development cycle, but it burns you out.
Advice to Management: Try to reduce crunch time for game releases. Better project planning would help everyone.

Decent place, but work-life balance is tough
Pros: You get to work on popular AAA titles, which is great for a portfolio if you're a Game Designer. There are some solid perks in the Novato, CA office when you're there. The hybrid work model is a definite plus for flexibility.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough when project deadlines hit in the game development industry. Crunch time is real, and it affects personal time pretty often. Weekends can definitely get swallowed up before a big release.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project timelines better to avoid such intense crunch periods. More flexible crunch options would help keep people from burning out.

Work-Life Balance is Okay, But Be Ready
Pros: When we're not in crunch mode, the work-life balance for a Game Developer is actually pretty solid. The hybrid work setup is a decent perk for those of us in the Novato, CA office, helping with commutes.
Cons: But seriously, be ready for crunch time during the late stages of the game development cycle, especially on those big AAA titles. It can be tough on your personal life, often meaning more than 40-hour weeks.
Advice to Management: Try to plan projects better to minimize intense crunch periods, especially for core Game Developer teams. It really impacts morale and prevents burnout.
