Pros: You can definitely move up if you show initiative. I started as a regular associate and worked my way into a Department Manager role in Toronto. It's a solid path in grocery retail if you're willing to learn and stand out in a big corporate grocery chain.
Cons: Career development isn't always clear, though. You kind of have to figure it out yourself. There aren't many formal training programs for management roles, so it's a lot of on-the-job learning without a clear roadmap.
Advice to Management: Invest more in clear career development paths and formal training programs for store-level management. It would help a lot with retention and show employees there's a real future here beyond just working harder.

Pros: For full-time Grocery Clerk roles, the benefits package is actually pretty solid. You get health and dental, which is a big plus in corporate retail. It's a stable job in the grocery industry.
Cons: The hourly wages for many positions aren't fantastic, especially when you're just starting out in Ontario. Raises aren't super frequent or substantial, so don't expect to get rich. Part-time benefits are pretty basic.
Advice to Management: Look into increasing hourly pay across the board, especially for long-term staff. It would really help with employee retention.

Pros: It's a big, corporate company so there's some stability if you're looking for job security in the retail industry. I've met some genuinely good people working here as a Department Lead. The benefits package is decent for the grocery store sector.
Cons: The company culture really depends on your specific store management. Some days it feels like we're just numbers, not valued team members. There's not enough focus on employee recognition, which makes onsite work feel draining.
Advice to Management: Invest more in frontline staff training and recognition programs. Make sure store managers foster a positive environment, not just focus on sales targets. It would help a lot with team morale.
