Pay's okay for a startup, benefits need work
Pros: For a Robotics Engineer starting out, the base salary is decent, especially in the San Francisco Bay Area. We get solid health coverage and dental, which is a big plus. It's a growing company in the robotics and AI industry, so there's potential.
Cons: Honestly, the equity grants are pretty low for a startup. We don't have any 401k matching, which feels like a missed opportunity. PTO is just okay too; it could be better. Overall, the full compensation package isn't super competitive for experienced roles.
Advice to Management: You really need to rethink the compensation structure, especially for more senior Robotics Engineer roles. Boosting the 401k match and offering more compelling equity options would help attract and keep top talent in the competitive San Francisco Bay Area market.

Career Growth for Engineers - Needs Work
Pros: It's cool working on real robotics development projects here. As a Robotics Engineer, I've picked up some solid technical skills, especially collaborating in the Boston, MA office. The work itself is challenging and keeps you on your toes.
Cons: The biggest issue is career growth. It's really hard to see a clear path forward, and formal promotions don't seem to happen often for individual contributors. There's not much structured mentorship either, so you're kinda left to chart your own course.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to define clearer career tracks for us engineers. A formal mentorship program would go a long way in helping people understand how to advance.

Hybrid Model Works, But Could Be Better
Pros: I really liked the hybrid model, giving me some WFH days for focus. As a Robotics Software Engineer, having quiet time for complex coding tasks is huge. The Boston office itself is pretty modern and well-equipped.
Cons: They're pretty strict about the 3 days in the office, even when there's no real need for all technical roles to be there. It doesn't feel like true work flexibility. Sometimes it feels like they don't fully trust us to manage our own time effectively for robotics development.
Advice to Management: Loosen up on the mandatory in-office days. Trust your employees in technical roles more to manage their schedules. Real work flexibility attracts and retains top talent in robotics development.
