Pros: Working as a Product Designer at Canva has been a genuinely positive experience. The culture here is incredibly collaborative and supportive; everyone's eager to help and shares a passion for creating great design tools. I really appreciate the hybrid work model based out of the Sydney office, which offers excellent work flexibility and helps maintain a good work-life balance in the tech industry. There are plenty of learning opportunities, and you get to tackle interesting, impactful projects.
Cons: While there are many positives, the rapid growth means some internal processes can feel a bit slow, especially when seeking cross-functional approvals. Also, career progression for Product Designers, particularly into more senior roles, can sometimes feel a bit gradual compared to other faster-moving tech companies. It's a minor point, but worth noting.
Advice to Management: Continue to foster the strong culture, but perhaps look into streamlining some of the internal approval processes to ensure agility keeps up with growth, and clarify career paths for senior individual contributors.
