Pros: Some of the senior technical leads are genuinely smart and can teach you a lot, especially if you're working on core database technology. There's good job security here, being a big tech company, which is nice. For remote work, the flexibility can be okay under the right manager.
Cons: Upper management in some divisions feels very disconnected from the day-to-day. Decisions often come down from high without much explanation for engineering teams. It's tough to get clear career growth paths or recognition sometimes. The leadership can feel a bit rigid.
Advice to Management: Try to empower middle managers more. Communicate strategic changes better to individual contributor Software Engineers. Focus on modernizing management approaches for a remote workforce.
