Clear Path, But You Drive Your Own Growth at EY
Pros: As a Senior Consultant, the career progression framework is pretty clear. You know what skills you need for the next level in consulting. There are tons of training resources available, and the mentorship program can be really helpful if you find the right people. It's great for gaining diverse project experience across different industries.
Cons: Growth can feel slow sometimes, especially if you're stuck on a less visible project. There's a lot of competition internally for those top promotion spots. It's on you to network like crazy and find your own opportunities, which can be draining in a big corporate environment. Remote work isn't always ideal for mentorship.
Advice to Management: Management should ensure more equitable access to high-profile projects, not just for those who are the loudest. Formalize mentorship matching and create clearer pathways for internal mobility within the big corporate structure. This would really help with employee retention.

Hybrid model works, but client demands vary
Pros: I liked the general hybrid work arrangement; it gave me some control over my week. Working remotely a few days from my New York City apartment was a big plus for personal errands. The technology for remote work is pretty solid.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough when you're staffed on demanding projects. Sometimes you're expected to be onsite with clients more than the company policy suggests for consulting roles. It's hard to truly disconnect after hours.
Advice to Management: Try to enforce the hybrid policy more consistently across client engagements, especially for consulting roles. Managers should support teams in setting boundaries with clients.

Hybrid model helps some but has limits
Pros: The hybrid work option is a real plus for us Staff Accountants. Being able to work from home a few days a week, especially outside of busy season, really helps. It’s decent flexibility for a professional services industry firm this size.
Cons: During busy season, true work flexibility goes out the window. It’s expected you're basically always on. Client demands often mean you're onsite in the Dallas, TX office more than you'd like.
Advice to Management: Push for more consistent flexibility even during peak times. Trust teams to manage their own schedules better, especially for Staff Accountant roles.
