Junior Data Analyst

Growth is Slow Here for ICs
Pros: The stability is great, you don't worry about layoffs much. As a Junior Data Analyst, I got to work with some really interesting pharmaceutical data, which looks good on a resume. They have decent benefits, too.
Cons: Career growth is pretty slow for individual contributor roles. It feels like you hit a ceiling fast unless you're aggressively networking for lateral moves. There aren't many clear promotion paths in the New Brunswick office for my type of role.
Advice to Management: Need to create clearer internal promotion tracks and invest more in mentoring programs for younger talent. It'd help with retention.

It's a stable, big corporate gig
Pros: Job security is generally solid here, especially for established roles. You don't often hear about huge layoffs across the board, which is comforting. As an Associate Marketing Manager, I felt pretty secure in my position in the New Brunswick, NJ office.
Cons: That said, company restructuring can feel sudden sometimes. While not layoffs, teams get reorganized, and your role might shift drastically. This creates a bit of uncertainty, even in a big corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Communicate big organizational changes more clearly and further in advance. It helps with morale and reduces anxiety among employees.

Good entry point, but growth plateaus
Pros: As an Associate Marketing Manager in New Brunswick, I got a solid foundation in consumer health marketing. The initial training and exposure to big brands were really helpful for a junior role.
Cons: Career growth definitely slows down after a few years. It's tough to get promoted into senior marketing roles without a lot of internal politicking. There aren't many clear advancement paths, especially for those in hybrid work setups.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating more transparent career progression frameworks. It's hard to see how to move up without jumping ship for a higher title elsewhere. Invest more in retaining mid-level marketing talent.

Research Scientist

Good Benefits, Average Pay for Scientists
Pros: The health benefits are seriously good, which you'd expect from a major pharmaceutical industry player. The 401k match is pretty generous too, and it's nice having an employee stock purchase program as part of a Fortune 500 company.
Cons: My base salary as a Research Scientist wasn't anything special. It's not like it's low, but it's not super competitive for the cost of living here. Annual raises felt really standard, almost like clockwork, nothing exciting.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing compensation bands for scientific roles to stay competitive with the broader biotech sector. Better transparency on salary growth could help too.
