Decent Flexibility, But It Varies
Pros: They've gotten better with hybrid work options lately. For my Energy Analyst role, I could usually do 2-3 days WFH, which really helped avoid the Manila traffic. Some managers are pretty understanding if you need to adjust your schedule for appointments; it's not super strict if you get your work done.
Cons: The work flexibility really varies by department and project. For operational roles or those close to power generation sites, it's pretty much onsite only. Sometimes there are long hours, especially when working on big renewable energy projects. It can mess with your work-life balance even with the hybrid setup.
Advice to Management: Keep pushing for more consistent hybrid work policies across all departments, especially for office-based roles in the utility company. Also, find ways to manage project timelines better to prevent excessive overtime for employees.

Decent flexibility, but depends on your role
Pros: Some teams actually get solid hybrid work options, which helps a lot with my work-life balance. As a Project Coordinator, my manager often let me adjust my schedule when needed for personal stuff. It's a decent perk for a utility giant in the Philippine energy industry.
Cons: Real flexibility isn't the norm for everyone; many roles, especially in operations, are always onsite. They're pretty slow rolling out consistent WFH policies across all departments. It feels like a big corporate company still catching up on modern work arrangements.
Advice to Management: Seriously consider implementing more consistent and equitable work-from-home or hybrid policies across all departments. It would greatly boost morale and help attract talent.

Decent balance, but expect crunch times
Pros: Work-life balance as an Electrical Engineer here is usually pretty good. The hybrid model in the Cebu City office helps a lot. You can often manage a solid 40-hour work week, which is nice.
Cons: When there's a big project or an emergency in power generation, all bets are off. I've definitely pulled some long nights. It's tough to just switch off when you're in the energy sector and things are critical.
Advice to Management: Try to allocate more resources during peak project phases to lessen the burden on individual engineers. Recognize the commitment shown when employees consistently put in extra effort for the energy sector's demands.
