Leadership Communication is a Major Issue
Pros: I liked the flexibility for remote work, which is solid for Software Engineers here. You can manage your own time well, and the WFH setup is really mature. Some immediate managers are genuinely supportive, especially in our sprint teams.
Cons: Senior leadership really struggles with clear communication. We often get strategy shifts that feel out of the blue, making it hard to understand the big picture. This can be frustrating for a mid-sized tech company, making it tough to feel secure in your role.
Advice to Management: Work on consistent, transparent communication from the top. Help team leads understand and convey the 'why' behind major decisions to all employees, especially remote staff.

Work-life balance is okay, but it's a startup
Pros: I appreciated the flexibility of remote work as a Software Engineer. Being able to work from Austin, TX was a big plus, and I could usually manage my own schedule. There's good autonomy here if you hit your deadlines.
Cons: Sometimes the workload really spikes in this startup environment. We often had late nights for critical releases, especially for engineering roles. It's not always consistent, which makes planning tough.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project scope to prevent last-minute crunch times for the dev teams.

Okay for remote work, but be ready for long days
Pros: The remote flexibility is pretty solid here. As a Software Engineer, I've appreciated the ability to manage my own time from Austin, TX, mostly working in a hybrid model. It's a decent setup for a mid-sized tech company.
Cons: Sometimes, work-life balance for engineering roles really takes a hit due to tight deadlines for SaaS product development. The on-call rotations can be tough, making it hard to disconnect fully after hours. It feels a bit like a startup sometimes.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project scopes and reduce the on-call burden for the engineering teams. It would really help prevent burnout and improve overall work-life balance.
