Okay Benefits, But Pay Could Be Better
Pros: The health benefits package for a retail giant like SM Retail is actually decent, which helps a lot. We also got some employee discounts on store items, which was a nice perk for daily needs. It’s pretty stable work if you need a regular job in the industry.
Cons: The base pay for Sales Associate roles is really low, especially when you're working long hours on the sales floor. Raises don't come around often, and when they do, they're pretty small. It's tough to save much living in Metro Manila.
Advice to Management: Management should seriously look into increasing the base salary for front-line retail staff. Better compensation would really boost morale and help retain good people in the competitive retail market.

Flexibility isn't really a thing here
Pros: The team camaraderie is solid, especially during busy seasons. You get a good sense of job security working for a big corporate retailer like SM Retail. It's a stable job, which is a plus.
Cons: Work flexibility for a Sales Supervisor in the retail industry is almost non-existent. You're stuck with fixed schedules and rarely get to swap shifts easily. It's tough if you have personal appointments or need WFH options, which aren't available for onsite roles.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more understanding for personal needs, even for onsite retail management roles. Maybe some planned remote work for administrative tasks could help.

Company Culture Needs a Major Look
Pros: I've learned a ton about retail operations, which is good for my career development. Some of my colleagues were genuinely awesome, making the long days more bearable. It's a steady job in a big retail chain.
Cons: The culture can be very top-down. There's not much voice for associates or supervisors in daily store operations. Overtime is expected, and work-life balance suffers because of it. It's tough to feel truly valued in such a large, corporate retail setting.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the store-level staff. Improve work-life balance and offer clearer paths for career advancement for those in retail operations. Invest in better training for middle management too.
