Junior Software Engineer
3.0
2 April 2026
Okay Pay, Benefits Could Be Better for a Startup
Pros: The base salary for my Junior Software Engineer role was competitive enough for a startup. It's nice working remotely from California, saving on commute costs. I felt the initial offer was fair.
Cons: The health benefits package felt pretty basic, especially for construction tech companies. I didn't see much room for stock options for junior roles, which is common in a startup environment. There's not much transparency around compensation growth either.
Advice to Management: Revisit the health insurance plans and consider more attractive stock options for all employees, not just senior hires. This would really help with retention in the competitive construction tech space.
