Account Manager

Decent balance for a growing fintech company
Pros: The hybrid work model is a lifesaver, allowing me to be remote from Sydney a few days a week. For an Account Manager role, the standard 40-hour weeks are mostly respected. There's not much pressure for after-hours calls, which is solid for a fintech company.
Cons: Sometimes during peak periods, especially end-of-quarter for small business lending, things get a bit crazy. There's definite pressure from management to hit targets, so it can feel like you're always 'on' even if you're not working extra hours. Not a ton of flexibility outside the set hybrid days.
Advice to Management: Try to smooth out the quarterly peaks so the pressure on Account Managers isn't so intense. Investing more in tools to help us manage SME loans more efficiently would really help reduce stress.

Decent Pay for a Startup, but Benefits are Basic
Pros: As a Financial Analyst, my base salary felt competitive. It was a decent starting point for someone in the financial services industry. They do pay on time, which is always good.
Cons: The benefits are really basic though. No great health insurance options or much in terms of retirement matching. It's tough when you compare it to bigger corporate gigs. There isn't much room for bonuses either.
Advice to Management: Look into improving the benefits package. Better health insurance and some form of retirement contribution would go a long way. It would really help with employee retention.

Leadership needs more clear direction
Pros: I liked the fast pace of a fintech startup. You learn a lot if you're proactive, especially working on small business lending solutions. The engineering team is solid, and the fully remote setup is a huge plus for work flexibility.
Cons: Leadership sometimes struggles with consistent messaging. Decisions can feel a bit arbitrary for us Software Engineers. There isn't always a clear product roadmap, which makes planning and prioritizing tough.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer communication strategies for the whole company. Provide more transparent product roadmaps. Listen to feedback from the engineering team more often to build better trust.
