Okay for Analysts, but tough during busy seasons
HSBC has its ups and downs for work-life balance, especially for financial analysts. The hybrid setup in NYC is good, but expect some really long weeks.
Work-life balance can be decent most of the year as a Financial Analyst here. We often get solid benefits, typical for a large corporate banking environment. The hybrid work model in the NYC office is a plus; it helps a bit with commute stress.
But watch out for quarter-end and project deadlines. Those weeks are usually really long, like 60+ hours, sometimes more. Management often expects quick turnarounds, so it's hard to truly disconnect when you're always on call for global banking clients.
Try to enforce better boundaries during peak times. We need more support to avoid burnout for junior staff in financial services.
