Hybrid work is okay, but could be better
Pros: The hybrid model means I'm not stuck in the office five days a week, which is nice for a tech role. We get two WFH days, which is pretty standard for a mid-sized fintech. It's a decent setup for managing personal stuff.
Cons: The in-office days are pretty strict. There's not much flexibility beyond the set hybrid schedule in the Chicago office. It can be tough if you have an unexpected need to work remote.
Advice to Management: Give employees more autonomy over their hybrid schedule. A little more understanding for ad-hoc remote requests would go a long way, especially for tech roles.

Leadership Can Be Hit or Miss at PEAK6
Pros: Working as a Software Engineer, the actual coding work is engaging. The compensation for FinTech roles in the Chicago office is quite competitive, which is a solid plus. You get to work with some really smart people.
Cons: It feels like some mid-level leadership doesn't have the experience needed to manage teams effectively. Communication from executive leadership can be pretty inconsistent, leaving people guessing on strategic direction. There's not enough clear guidance for career growth, especially for those in hybrid roles trying to get face time.
Advice to Management: Invest more in leadership training for your managers, especially those new to their roles. Improve transparency and communication from the top down so teams understand company goals better. This would really help with employee morale and retention.
