Cabalen, which literally translates to a fellow Capampangan, is a group of casual - fine dining restaurants known for authentic Capampangan dishes and different Filipino specialties, originating from Pampanga. This province is known to food connoisseurs as the seat of sumptuous food and delicacies while the Capampangans are widely known as people with good taste and innate cooking talent. These factors contributed to the eventual birth of Cabalen, the Capampangan specialty restaurants.

Cabalen family started in 1974 in San Fernando, Pampanga as a small Bahay Pasalubong Restaurant selling specialty food dishes, then grew into a restaurant called "Ituro Mo, Iluto Ko". In 1986, the first Cabalen Eat-all-you-Can, Eat-all-you-Want Restaurant was opened in West Avenue, Quezon City that ushered the expansion .to more outlets. Gradually it became the most popular buffet restaurant in the Philippines.

Restaurant Supervisor

Okay for starting out, but growth is slow
Pros: I've learned a ton about restaurant operations as a Restaurant Supervisor. The team culture is really supportive, and it's nice working with fellow food enthusiasts onsite in Metro Manila. You get decent exposure to different aspects of the business.
Cons: Career growth is pretty tough here. There aren't many clear paths to move up past a certain level, and I felt stuck after a couple of years. Promotion opportunities in the food service industry seem limited without specific openings, and internal training for higher management roles is sparse.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into creating clearer career paths for employees beyond just the entry-level. More structured training programs for leadership and transparent promotion processes would help a lot.

Okay Pay, Benefits Need Work
Pros: As a Restaurant Manager here, the base salary is decent for the Metro Manila area. It's competitive enough for the hospitality industry. Paychecks are always on time, which is a big plus.
Cons: But the benefits package isn't really strong, especially compared to bigger corporate restaurant groups. There aren't many perks beyond the basics for onsite food service roles. Don't expect big bonuses either.
Advice to Management: Seriously look at enhancing the benefits package for long-term employees, especially for those in critical onsite management positions. Better performance incentives would help too.

Okay for entry-level, tough on flexibility
Pros: They're pretty good about training, especially for new managers. You get a lot of hands-on experience in the fast-paced restaurant environment. There's a solid team spirit among the staff at the Quezon City branches.
Cons: Work flexibility isn't really a thing here. As a Restaurant Manager, I often worked 10-12 hour onsite shifts, even on weekends. Asking for changes or specific days off was really tough, especially during peak seasons.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more predictable schedules or better flexibility options, even for management roles. It would really help retain good people in the food service industry.
