Solid Work-Life for Remote Program Manager
Pros: I'm a Program Manager and appreciate the remote flexibility here. It makes managing personal life much easier. Typically, my week is 40-45 hours, which is good for a government contractor.
Cons: Some defense contracting deadlines can be brutal, pushing for longer hours unexpectedly. It's not a true 'always 40 hours' situation, and you're still tied to project timelines.
Advice to Management: Try to give teams more lead time on critical project deadlines to help manage workload better.

Decent Work-Life, But Expect Long Weeks Sometimes
Pros: I've got a decent hybrid schedule, which helps a lot with personal appointments. For many engineering roles, you can usually stick to a pretty standard workday, which is nice.
Cons: When we hit crunch time for a big government contracting proposal or delivery, it's all hands on deck. I've had some 60+ hour weeks, which really kills your personal time and isn't ideal for long-term work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Try to staff projects better to avoid constant crunch mode. Better planning could prevent a lot of those overly long weeks.

Decent Work-Life, Project-Dependent
Pros: If your project manager is good, you can actually hit those 40-hour weeks. Being remote from Florida was a big plus for my personal schedule, which really helped my work-life balance. Some government contracting projects allow for more predictable hours.
Cons: It's not always easy to avoid crunch times, especially on big proposals or contract deadlines. As a Logistics Analyst, you can get pulled into really intense, long days if a project is understaffed. The work-life balance isn't consistent across all teams.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize expectations around working hours across different government contracting projects. Better staffing on projects would really help prevent burnout for people like Logistics Analysts.
