Junior Software Engineer

Okay for a Start, Growth is Tough at Clay
Pros: As a Junior Software Engineer, I learned a lot about modern web development. The team is collaborative, and the hybrid work model from our San Francisco office was pretty good. It's a solid startup experience for entry-level folks.
Cons: Career growth is really slow, almost non-existent for engineering roles. There aren't clear promotion paths for a Software Engineer, so I felt stuck. It's tough to move up if you're not a senior already.
Advice to Management: Create clearer growth paths and mentorship programs for junior and mid-level engineers. It's hard to see a future here without them.

Hybrid model has pros and cons
Pros: I like the few remote days we get each week; it's a solid WFH policy for a tech startup. They're generally understanding when you need to shift things around, which helps with personal life.
Cons: The "flexibility" isn't always what it seems, especially in the San Francisco office. We're still expected to be onsite a lot, which can feel like a contradiction to the hybrid model. For engineering roles, it often feels like we could do more from home.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about actual onsite expectations. Make sure the hybrid model is truly flexible across all teams, especially for us Software Engineers.

Junior Data Analyst

Growth is Slow, but the Learning is Real
Pros: As a Junior Data Analyst, I got to jump into many different projects right away. You learn a lot by doing in this fast-paced startup, and it's great exposure to the whole data pipeline.
Cons: Formal career development is pretty much non-existent. There's no clear path for data science roles, and you really have to advocate for yourself if you want a promotion or a new title. It can feel like you're stuck.
Advice to Management: Establish clear career frameworks and mentorship programs, especially for entry-level data science roles. Help employees see a future with clear advancement opportunities.
