Supportive Leadership and Great Team Environment
Pros: I've been a Project Engineer here for a few years, and it's been a solid experience in industrial equipment manufacturing. The leadership team is generally very supportive, especially my direct manager who really encourages professional development and learning. Colleagues are also fantastic, always ready to help out. It's a stable company, which is great for job security, and there are good opportunities to work on diverse projects.
Cons: Sometimes the approval processes can feel a bit slow, which can delay project timelines, especially on larger projects. Also, career progression isn't always super fast; you really have to be proactive about finding new roles and advocating for yourself. Work-life balance can get a little tricky during peak project phases, requiring longer hours occasionally, but it's generally manageable.
Advice to Management: I'd suggest streamlining some of the internal approval workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce project lead times. Also, clearer paths for internal career advancement, perhaps through mentorship programs or more transparent promotion criteria, would be beneficial for employee retention.

Steady Place to Learn and Grow in Industrial Manufacturing
Pros: I've found Terex Corporation in Southaven, MS, to be a stable place in industrial manufacturing. As a Supply Chain Analyst, I appreciate the supportive colleagues and learning opportunities. Leadership promotes development, and the benefits are competitive.
Cons: Career advancement can be slow, and some internal processes are a bit bureaucratic. Cross-departmental communication could definitely be improved, especially in a large, global company.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining internal approval processes to improve efficiency and reduce bureaucracy. Enhance cross-departmental communication to ensure smoother operations across the global organization.

Job Security Can Be Shaky Here
Pros: The pay as an Assembly Line Technician in heavy equipment manufacturing was decent. Benefits were pretty solid, especially the health insurance plan. It felt like a big, stable corporate environment at times with good resources.
Cons: Job security here just isn't great. There were a lot of layoffs during my time in the Waukesha, Wisconsin facility. Working onsite knowing your role could disappear is really tough on morale for all industrial machinery roles.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to improve how they handle and communicate staffing changes. The constant threat of layoffs badly affects employee morale and creates a very nervous work environment.

Leadership is hit or miss, depends on your manager
Pros: Some managers here are really solid. They genuinely back their teams, which is great when you're a Manufacturing Engineer working on industrial equipment. My direct boss was decent about supporting us to hit production targets.
Cons: Upper leadership can feel pretty disconnected, especially from us in the Watertown, SD plant. Decisions come down without much input from the heavy equipment manufacturing teams. It's tough trying to implement things when they don't get the daily grind.
Advice to Management: Try to connect more with the plant level employees. Get feedback before making big changes that impact daily heavy equipment manufacturing.

Solid place for manufacturing, job security is decent
Pros: Job security here is pretty decent for the industrial machinery sector. Being a part of a large corporate company like Terex means there's a lot of structure and fewer sudden shocks. My onsite role in the Norman, OK facility felt pretty stable.
Cons: However, it's not totally rock-solid. They do go through restructuring sometimes, which can make things feel uncertain for a bit. You see departments shift, and that can impact job security for specific roles.
Advice to Management: Management should really work on clearer communication during any periods of change or restructuring. It helps everyone feel more secure about their future here.

Pay's Okay, Benefits Could Be Better
Pros: The 401k match is pretty solid, which is a big plus. As a Logistics Coordinator, I appreciated having standard health insurance options. It's a stable, large corporate environment, so job security felt decent here for heavy equipment manufacturing.
Cons: Base salary for operations roles feels a bit low for the industry, especially working onsite in the Southaven, MS facility. Raises don't really keep up with inflation, making it tough to feel truly valued. The health insurance premiums can also be pricey, which eats into your take-home pay.
Advice to Management: Revisit the salary bands for entry and mid-level positions in industrial machinery. Lowering health insurance costs would really help employee morale and retention.

Okay Work-Life, Depends on Your Team
Pros: I liked the hybrid work option; it's great for planning appointments. For engineering roles, there were some slow periods, so you could catch your breath. The benefits package was pretty decent too, which helps make things easier outside of work.
Cons: During product launches in heavy equipment manufacturing, overtime was a must, and it felt endless. Sometimes managers pushed too hard, not respecting boundaries. There wasn't much flexibility for crucial family events during peak times, even with the hybrid model.
Advice to Management: Management needs to standardize expectations around workload and overtime. Respecting personal time for engineering teams, especially during demanding periods, would boost morale. Empowering managers to prioritize employee well-being over just project deadlines is key.

Okay Place for a Manufacturing Career
Pros: As a Manufacturing Engineer here, I really appreciated the team atmosphere on the shop floor. People genuinely help each other out, especially with new product introductions for our construction equipment. The company culture felt pretty stable, not a lot of sudden changes, which is decent for a large corporate setting.
Cons: Innovation sometimes gets bogged down in bureaucracy. There's not much room for junior engineers to really shake things up. Work-life balance can get tough with production deadlines, and for onsite roles like mine, there isn't much work flexibility beyond standard hours.
Advice to Management: Try to empower younger talent to bring new ideas forward more easily. Speed up decision-making processes to keep up with industry demands.

Work-life Balance is Okay, Can Be Better
Pros: For a Manufacturing Engineer in Southaven, MS, the core hours are pretty standard, usually 40-45 hours a week. It's an onsite role in heavy equipment manufacturing, so you kinda know what you're getting into. There's not a lot of surprise weekend work unless something major breaks.
Cons: Sometimes, project deadlines for new product lines really push the hours up, making it tough. You can feel a lot of pressure from management to get things done ASAP. It's not always easy to take PTO during peak production cycles.
Advice to Management: Try to staff projects better to avoid intense crunch times and manage expectations around product launches. Give engineers more autonomy to manage their project timelines.

Decent place for an engineer, but watch your hours
Pros: For a Manufacturing Engineer in the heavy equipment industry, the standard 40-hour weeks are pretty consistent. It's a stable corporate environment in the Southaven, MS office. You get decent benefits which helps with overall job satisfaction.
Cons: Work-life balance can get tough when production lines fall behind; some mandatory overtime happens. There's not much flexibility for remote work; it's mostly on-site for engineering and production roles. Sometimes you feel like a cog in a large manufacturing company, especially during busy periods.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more work flexibility where possible. Help teams manage workloads better to avoid mandatory overtime in the manufacturing sector.
