Pros: The team is super smart, and I learned a ton about permitting software development. It's cool building something from the ground up, especially if you're into that startup environment. You get a lot of ownership, which is great for Software Engineer roles.
Cons: Honestly, the work-life balance isn't really there. Expect long hours; 50-60 hour weeks were pretty normal for me. It's tough to disconnect when you're remote from Austin, TX and the project deadlines are always tight in this construction tech space.
Advice to Management: Leadership really needs to think about developer burnout. Find ways to manage project scope and set more realistic deadlines so people aren't constantly working overtime. More focus on employee well-being would help retention.
