Pros: The pay is decent for a Field Service Engineer, and the benefits package is solid. You get a lot of autonomy working remotely from Charlotte, NC, handling your own schedule for service calls. It's stable work in the hygiene solutions sector.
Cons: Career growth is tough, especially if you're in a technical role like mine. There aren't many clear paths for advancement beyond senior individual contributor. It feels like you hit a ceiling pretty quick if you want to move into management or other departments.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer career paths for long-term employees, especially for those in field service. Invest in more training programs for management roles.

Okay for a Field Role, But Demanding
Pros: I liked the independence as a Field Service Technician. I could mostly plan my day for customer sites. It's not a desk job, so you're out and about in the Midwest US.
Cons: Work-life balance is pretty rough for field service roles here. There are a lot of late calls and weekend emergencies. It's hard to truly disconnect from the cleaning and hygiene solutions equipment issues.
Advice to Management: Management should re-evaluate the on-call rotations and workload for Field Service Technicians. It would help improve retention and overall employee well-being.
