Okay Work-Life, Tough for Banking Roles
Pros: You get solid benefits at this big bank. The hybrid model for my Toronto office team was pretty decent, letting me work from home a few days. Some managers genuinely care about you not burning out.
Cons: The hours can be really long, especially as a Financial Analyst during quarter-ends. There's pressure to stay late, even if your tasks are done. It's tough to have a good work-life balance consistently in the corporate banking division.
Advice to Management: Encourage managers to enforce realistic working hours. Promote work-life balance for all, not just in certain departments. Recognize that Financial Analyst roles need better resource planning to prevent burnout.

Hybrid Work is Okay, Balance Can Be Tricky
Pros: I liked the hybrid work setup. As a Financial Advisor in Toronto, working a few days from home really helped with commuting. The benefits package is solid for the financial services industry, which is nice.
Cons: But the client demands often meant long hours. It's tough to really switch off when you're always on call for retail banking clients. Sometimes I'd feel pretty burnt out.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into better resource allocation for client-facing roles. Setting clearer boundaries on client communication outside of office hours would help Financial Advisors avoid burnout.

Work-life balance is okay, but can vary a lot.
Pros: It's a big corporate bank, so there's some structure. The hybrid work model helps a lot with commuting and personal errands. As a Financial Analyst in the Toronto office, I've had decent weeks thanks to that flexibility.
Cons: Sometimes projects really pile up, especially during quarter-end reporting. You'll definitely have longer hours in the financial services industry, and Scotiabank is no exception. It's tough for junior banking roles to say no to extra work, which impacts your personal time.
Advice to Management: Try to better distribute workloads, especially for junior staff. More clear boundaries on after-hours emails would really help with burnout, fostering better work-life balance for those in the corporate banking sector.
