Pros: I've been a Software Engineer here in the semiconductor industry for a few years, working on core infrastructure software. What I really like is the overall stability and job security you get. You're surrounded by super smart engineers, and there are always opportunities to learn something new, especially if you're into deep technical challenges. Plus, the pay is definitely competitive for the San Jose area, and the benefits are solid.
Cons: It's not all perfect though. Work-life balance can swing a lot, especially when deadlines hit; it's definitely not a strict 9-5. Also, career growth isn't the fastest track, promotions can feel pretty slow sometimes. Communication between different product teams could use some work too, it gets a bit siloed.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving cross-functional communication between different product groups. Also, review career progression paths to offer clearer opportunities for growth, especially for experienced individual contributors.
