Controls Engineer

Leadership is Fine, But Some Frustrations
Pros: I liked the steady work, especially for a large corporate employer in the aerospace industry. My direct manager was usually pretty supportive, which made day-to-day work on industrial control systems manageable. There's good job security here.
Cons: Senior leadership felt really disconnected from the engineering teams. It felt like they didn't quite get the challenges we faced daily as Controls Engineers in the Fort Collins office. Sometimes decisions from the top just didn't make sense on the ground.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the people actually doing the work. Try to understand the daily grind for roles like Controls Engineers better. It would help a lot.

Decent place, but culture could be better
Pros: There's good job security, which is a big plus for a corporate company this size. I liked working on complex industrial controls projects. The Fort Collins, CO office is pretty modern.
Cons: The company culture feels a bit old-school and slow. Innovation can be tough as a Manufacturing Engineer; new ideas don't always get traction quickly. Sometimes it feels like bureaucracy slows everything down.
Advice to Management: Focus on modernizing the company culture. Encourage more bottom-up innovation, especially for technical roles like those in aerospace manufacturing.

Tough on Flexibility, Solid Engineering Work
Pros: You get to work on some cool aerospace components and industrial control systems. The teams are usually pretty smart. There's good job security for technical roles if you're okay with being onsite.
Cons: Work flexibility isn't really a thing here. They really push for everyone to be in the Fort Collins office, making a true hybrid model or remote work almost impossible for engineers. It's a big corporate company that's slow to adapt to modern work styles.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing a more flexible hybrid model, especially for technical roles like software engineering. It'd really help with talent retention and modernizing the company culture.

Steady job, but tough to grow here
Pros: It's a really stable corporate company, which is nice. For mechanical engineering roles, you get good benefits, especially health insurance. The Fort Collins office has a decent environment.
Cons: Career growth is honestly pretty slow for engineers. There aren't many clear paths to move up, so you can feel stuck. Sometimes it feels like you're doing the same thing for years unless you really push for something new.
Advice to Management: Management needs to really think about creating better internal mobility programs. Having clearer career paths for us engineers would make a huge difference in retention and morale. It feels like good people leave just to find advancement.
