Solid company, but culture is a bit slow.
Pros: You get good job security here, that's for sure. Working on advanced rail technology projects is pretty interesting. As a Mechanical Engineer in the Munich office, I've gotten to learn a ton about the industry.
Cons: The company culture sometimes feels really traditional. It's tough to drive change or new ideas, things move at a snail's pace. There isn't much work flexibility; most of us are onsite, and that makes personal planning hard.
Advice to Management: Consider embracing more agility. Speeding up decisions and promoting a culture of innovation would definitely help. It'd make Knorr-Bremse AG even better for its employees.

Solid But Slow for Career Growth Here
Pros: You get decent job security, which is good for a large corporate. I gained solid experience with specific rail technology systems. Benefits are also pretty good.
Cons: Career progression is a real challenge for software development roles. It's tough to move up or even switch teams within the Munich office. Formal mentorship programs are basically nonexistent.
Advice to Management: Create clearer pathways for career advancement. Invest in formal mentorship and make internal mobility easier across departments.

Tough on Flexibility for Knorr-Bremse Employees
Pros: The team in the Westminster, MD office is decent, and you get hands-on experience with industrial manufacturing processes. There's good job security within this large corporate company, which is a plus.
Cons: Work flexibility is a real challenge, especially for Project Engineer roles. They preach hybrid work, but it often feels like 4-5 days onsite. Remote work is really uncommon, which makes work-life balance tough to achieve here.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more genuine hybrid or remote options for roles where it makes sense. Trust employees more to get the job done without constant onsite supervision to improve work-life balance for the team.

Stable Global Corp, Culture Needs a Refresh
Pros: As a Software Engineer, I've gained solid experience in complex rail technology. It's a very stable global corporation, which is great for job security. The benefits package is pretty decent.
Cons: The company culture can feel pretty old-fashioned, especially in the Munich office. Decision-making for new projects, like within braking systems development, is often slow. It's tough to get much work flexibility here.
Advice to Management: Try to embrace more modern work methodologies and empower teams with faster decision-making. Update the overall approach to company culture.

Solid Stability, Slower Pace
Pros: The job security here is really good, especially for an engineer. As a Mechanical Engineer in the Munich office, I felt very secure in my role, even during tough economic times. It's a large corporate environment, so you're not going to be easily let go.
Cons: Career progression can feel super slow. You often wait years for a promotion or a new opportunity, even if you're performing well. The pay growth also lags a bit compared to some other companies in the railway systems industry.
Advice to Management: Management needs to focus more on internal career paths and faster promotion cycles for performing employees. Recognize and reward talent so they don't look elsewhere in the commercial vehicle systems space.
