Solid Electrical Industry Company with Good Benefits
Pros: Working at nVent offers great job stability, which is key in the electrical industry. The benefits package is really good; the 401k match and health coverage are competitive. I appreciate learning new tech as an Electrical Engineer and the supportive team culture in Anoka, Minnesota.
Cons: My only minor gripe is that career progression can be slow. Promotions don't come quickly, and some internal processes feel a bit bureaucratic.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining the promotion process and provide clearer pathways for career advancement within the company, especially for experienced engineers.

Great Company Culture and Stable Environment for Operations Roles
Pros: I've really enjoyed the company culture here at nVent. The electrical equipment manufacturing industry can be demanding, but my colleagues are incredibly supportive, fostering genuine teamwork in our operations roles. There are solid learning opportunities and a stable environment, which I value a lot.
Cons: The main drawbacks involve internal approval processes which can sometimes feel a bit bureaucratic. Also, career advancement, especially into senior management, can be slower than one might expect, even with strong performance.
Advice to Management: I'd suggest streamlining some of the internal approval workflows to increase efficiency. Also, clear communication on career progression paths could help employees feel more empowered about their future here.

Solid place, but watch the hours
Pros: The team in the Minneapolis office is really collaborative, which makes daily tasks easier. They do offer some flexibility with the hybrid model, so I wasn't always stuck onsite. It's a stable corporate environment.
Cons: As a Sales Manager, the workload can get intense, especially towards quarter-end. It's not uncommon to put in 50+ hours. Sometimes there's pressure to respond to clients outside normal business hours, which hurts personal time.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage the workload expectations for sales roles, especially for those working with industrial solutions clients. It would help prevent burnout and improve retention.

Slow Climb for Career-Focused Engineers
Pros: The pay and benefits are decent for the manufacturing sector. I really appreciate the hybrid work model; it helps with my work-life balance. There's solid job security working with essential electrical components.
Cons: Career growth for Project Manager roles feels pretty stagnant here. Is there much room to grow? There aren't many clear paths to advance, and mentorship is scarce. Promotions seem to happen very slowly, especially for those in the St. Louis Park office.
Advice to Management: Really need to invest in clearer career development programs and mentorship for engineering and project management roles. Show us a path forward.

Career Growth is Slow for Technical Roles
Pros: You get to work on some cool electrical solutions and the projects are interesting. They have decent training modules for new tech if you're proactive about it. Solid for gaining experience in the industrial manufacturing sector.
Cons: The promotion path isn't very clear for Electrical Engineer positions in the St. Louis office. Feels like you're stuck in your current level unless a manager leaves, which is rare. It's a large corporate company, so career progression moves pretty slow.
Advice to Management: Create more defined career ladders and be transparent about promotion criteria for engineering roles. Encourage internal movement and skill development more actively.

Cons: Career growth for a Manufacturing Engineer in the Anoka, MN office is really slow. There's not much clear path for advancement, and internal promotions are rare. You kinda get stuck in your role.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer career paths and invest in skill development for employees. It'd help with retention and overall morale for technical roles.

Cons: Growth can feel slow sometimes in this corporate environment. There aren't always many upward moves for engineering roles. It's stable, but not always exciting for quick career progression.

Okay for now, but growth stalls quickly
Pros: They have decent training programs for new hires. You learn a lot about electrical products and industrial automation early on, which is good foundation experience. Some senior engineers are really helpful mentors, especially if you're new to the corporate environment.
Cons: However, career progression here can be really slow. There aren't many clear paths to move up for technical roles, even if you perform well. It's tough to get promoted beyond a certain level without really specific project needs or someone leaving.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create more transparent career paths for engineers and other technical roles. Invest in internal development and open up more senior positions instead of always hiring externally.

Solid Work-Life Balance for Engineering Staff
Pros: As a Design Engineer, I usually hit my 40-hour weeks. The hybrid work schedule is a big plus. It really helps balance family life, especially in the electrical enclosure industry.
Cons: Sometimes project deadlines get intense. It's tough to avoid late nights then. There's not always a clear push to prevent burnout for everyone.
Advice to Management: Really try to enforce limits on project scope. Give teams more breathing room. It helps prevent burnout in busy periods.

Hybrid Model is Okay, Could Be Better
Pros: I do appreciate the option for hybrid work here; it's nice to have some days at home. For an Electrical Engineer, being able to focus on design tasks remotely really helps. It offers a decent break from the St. Louis office commute.
Cons: The 'hybrid' isn't always that flexible, especially for those of us involved in industrial manufacturing products. We're expected in the office three days a week, which feels pretty strict. It's tough when your actual work doesn't always need you physically there.
Advice to Management: Maybe look at true work needs for different Electrical Engineer roles. Make hybrid options more flexible for those not needing constant onsite access.
