Leadership's Okay, But Could Be Better
Pros: My direct manager in the NYC boutique was decent. They understood the daily grind as a Retail Sales Associate, which really helps when you're hitting sales targets for luxury fashion. It felt good to have that support.
Cons: The higher-ups in corporate luxury brand management felt pretty disconnected. There's a lot of pressure from them, but not much hands-on guidance for onsite teams. Sometimes, decisions felt out of touch with the actual store experience.
Advice to Management: Upper management needs to spend more time understanding the day-to-day challenges faced by retail staff in the boutiques. More direct support and clearer communication would really help.

Demanding but good for luxury fashion experience
Pros: Working here gives you great experience in luxury fashion. You're constantly interacting with high-end products and learning about visual merchandising standards for a corporate luxury brand. Some colleagues in the New York City office are really passionate about their craft.
Cons: The company culture can be pretty demanding and a bit old-school, especially for a Visual Merchandiser. There's often pressure to work long hours, and work-life balance isn't a huge priority. It feels quite hierarchical at times.
Advice to Management: Try to foster a more modern and supportive environment. Recognize that employees need a better work-life balance, even in luxury retail.

Okay balance for luxury retail, but it's demanding
Pros: I loved getting hands-on experience in the luxury fashion industry. The team at the New York boutique was super supportive too, which made long days easier. As a retail associate, you learn a ton about clienteling.
Cons: The work-life balance here is only okay; expect to work weekends and some holidays. Hours can get pretty long, especially during peak sales periods. It's tough to plan much when you're in an onsite retail role.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more consistent scheduling or a bit more notice for longer shifts, especially for sales associates. It helps with planning personal time.

Fendi NYC: Great Brand, Fixed Retail Hours
Pros: You're part of a luxury fashion powerhouse. Working with high-end clientele is pretty cool. The team at the Fifth Avenue store was supportive, making the onsite experience better.
Cons: Work flexibility here is pretty low for Sales Associate roles. You're on fixed shifts, which is standard for retail environment jobs, but it makes scheduling personal life hard. Don't expect much WFH.
Advice to Management: Try to find ways to offer a bit more flexibility, even small things, for your Sales Associate teams. It would help a lot with burnout in the luxury retail sector.

Fendi NYC Retail Leadership Can Improve
Pros: The best part is working with luxury fashion products. For retail sales associate roles, the commission structure is pretty good if you hit your targets. The brand name really helps with clienteling and attracting high-end customers in the NYC boutique.
Cons: Leadership often felt disconnected from the daily grind on the sales floor. There's not much clear direction from upper management, and it sometimes felt like favoritism was at play. Store managers could really benefit from more training on how to motivate and lead a team effectively, not just hitting sales numbers.
Advice to Management: Invest more in leadership training for store managers and team leads. Create clearer pathways for career growth for sales associates. Make sure communication flows better from corporate down to the retail floor teams in our luxury fashion boutiques.

Fendi's Work-Life Balance Is a Struggle
Pros: I really enjoyed interacting with clients at our New York City boutique. The team spirit among other Sales Associates was solid, which helped during really long days. You learn a ton about the luxury fashion industry here.
Cons: The work-life balance here is pretty tough for retail roles. Expect to work weekends and holidays, especially during peak seasons. There's just not much flexibility for your personal life, honestly.
Advice to Management: Please consider better staffing during busy times to ease the burden on current employees. More predictable schedules would help a lot with employee morale.
