Long hours, but great for your career
Pros: It's definitely a top firm in the financial services industry. You learn so much here as a Quantitative Researcher. The compensation is seriously competitive, it makes the long hours a bit more bearable. Working at the New York City office means you're always learning from the best in prop trading.
Cons: Work-life balance here is tough, especially in a big prop trading firm. Expect consistent 70+ hour weeks, even more during peak times. There's not much flexibility, it's pretty much an onsite culture, so remote work isn't really an option. It's hard to make plans outside of work sometimes.
Advice to Management: Try to find ways to promote better work-life balance, even just a little. Burnout is a real issue, especially with consistent 70+ hour weeks. More support for longer projects could help.

Solid firm, but security ties to performance
Pros: You get paid very well, especially for quantitative researcher roles. It's a huge firm in high-frequency trading, so you're learning from the best. The New York City office is super high-energy.
Cons: Job security for market making roles isn't super high if your performance drops. They demand a lot, so there's always pressure to deliver. It's mostly onsite, so less work flexibility.
Advice to Management: Try to provide clearer paths for employees to improve rather than just relying on performance-based exits. It could help with morale.

Fast pace, smart people, intense culture
Pros: The people here are genuinely sharp, especially in the New York City office. For quantitative researcher roles, you're constantly pushed to learn new things in financial markets. It's great to be around brilliant minds.
Cons: The company culture can be really demanding. It's an intense, competitive environment and there's definitely an expectation of long hours. Work-life balance suffers for many, even as a quantitative researcher.
Advice to Management: Find ways to support work-life balance initiatives more actively. Acknowledge the demanding nature while trying to prevent burnout.
