Remote Work is Good, Culture Needs Work
Pros: The flexibility as a remote Product Manager is awesome, really helps with work-life balance. You learn a ton about fintech payments and global money transfer in this role. It's a genuinely interesting industry to be in with a growing fintech.
Cons: The company culture feels a bit disconnected, especially for remote employees. It's tough to build real rapport with colleagues when you're mostly virtual. Communication from leadership isn't always clear, leading to some silos across teams.
Advice to Management: Really focus on building a more cohesive company culture, especially with so many remote employees. More consistent and transparent communication from leadership would make a huge difference in uniting everyone and preventing silos.

Good for Self-Starters, Not Much Formal Growth
Pros: As a Software Engineer, you get hands-on with some cool FinTech projects. There's a lot of exposure to global payments infrastructure, which is interesting. If you're proactive, you can definitely learn a lot here.
Cons: Career development isn't very structured, especially for technical roles. You kind of have to carve out your own path, which can be tough. Don't expect regular promotions without really pushing for them.
Advice to Management: Invest in clearer career frameworks and mentorship for employees. It would really help engineering teams see their path forward.

Good culture but career path isn't clear
Pros: The team here is really supportive, which is great for learning new tech. I've gained a lot of experience with modern payment processing systems as a Software Engineer. For an evolving fintech company, there are some decent learning opportunities if you seek them out.
Cons: Career growth for engineering roles isn't super defined; it's hard to see the next step. Promotions felt more about who you knew than actual merit or performance. There's not much formal mentorship or structured development plans, especially in the Singapore office.
Advice to Management: Really need to invest in clearer career paths and mentorship programs for individual contributors, especially for engineers. Help us see how to advance within this growing fintech business.

Okay culture for a growing FinTech
Pros: Working in the Singapore office for payments processing was engaging. As an Account Manager, I really liked the hybrid work model; it offered good flexibility. The teams were generally pretty supportive and smart in the FinTech industry.
Cons: The company culture has shifted, it feels less cohesive now. Communication from senior leadership isn't always clear, which can be frustrating. Some days felt like a lot of reactive work.
Advice to Management: Try to get back to what made the company culture great initially. Clearer communication from the top would help a lot with team morale.

Leadership is Decent, Still Growing Pains
Pros: As a Product Manager, I got to work on some cool cross-border payment projects. There's a good drive to innovate in the fintech space, which is exciting. The teams below executive level are generally supportive.
Cons: Leadership communication often feels disjointed; different messages come from different VPs. It's tough when strategic decisions for global payments shift too often, making it hard for teams to focus. Sometimes you feel like a cog, without much input reaching the very top leaders.
Advice to Management: Try to align on a clear vision and communicate it consistently across all levels. Empower middle management more to execute without constant strategic shifts. This would help a lot with retention for roles like Product Manager in the competitive fintech market.

Solid payments industry gig, but things change.
Pros: The cross-border payments industry is booming, so Thunes has a lot of potential. As an Operations Specialist, I felt generally secure in my role because the core business is solid. They're growing into new markets, which means more work.
Cons: However, it's a fintech startup environment, so things can pivot quickly. There were definitely some reorganizations and team changes, which makes you wonder about long-term stability. You can't get too comfortable, especially with new tech constantly emerging.

Good growth, but work-life balance needs work
Pros: The team is generally supportive, which is a big plus. As a Product Manager, I got to work on some really interesting global payments projects. The hybrid work option in the Singapore office definitely helps with errands.
Cons: Work-life balance here is tough; you'll put in long hours often. It's common to work late, especially when coordinating across time zones for our fintech solutions. The pace is intense, which impacts personal time.
Advice to Management: Try to set clearer boundaries for after-hours communication and project timelines. Support managers in protecting their teams' personal time to avoid burnout.
