Pros: I really appreciate the hybrid work model; it makes my week way more flexible. As a Software Engineer in the Westbrook, Maine office, I can usually hit my 40 hours without too much trouble. It's solid for most normal weeks.
Cons: When we have big pushes, especially in the veterinary diagnostics area, the hours can get long. It's tough to plan personal stuff then. I've seen some software development roles get slammed more than others.
Advice to Management: It'd be great if leadership could focus on more consistent workload management across all the software engineering teams. Better resource allocation would really help prevent burnout during peak times.

Pros: The job security at IDEXX is really solid, especially for IT roles. As a large corporate company in veterinary technology, they're not going anywhere. The remote options are a big plus for work-life balance.
Cons: Career progression can feel a bit slow and unclear for a Software Engineer. Sometimes I felt like there weren't many opportunities to advance quickly. The pace can be a little too laid back.
Advice to Management: Really clarify career paths and growth opportunities, especially for engineering teams. Push for more agile development processes to keep things engaging for technical staff.

Pros: As a Software Engineer, the hybrid model is pretty solid here. I can mostly work remote, which is great for personal appointments and avoiding the Westbrook, Maine commute. There's a lot of trust within my team for managing our own time, which helps with overall work-life balance.
Cons: Some teams have stricter onsite requirements; it's not consistent across the whole corporate environment. It can be tough if your manager isn't keen on work-from-home, making overall work flexibility feel limited sometimes. I wish the core hours were less rigid.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid work policy across all departments and ensure managers are trained on how to effectively support work flexibility. Make it less about individual manager preference and more about consistent company policy.
