FDM Pay: Solid Start, But Don't Expect Riches
Pros: It's a good way to break into the IT consulting world right out of school. They provide paid training and connect you with client placements pretty quickly. You gain valuable experience for these entry-level tech roles.
Cons: The pay for a junior IT consultant isn't great, especially considering the cost of living in New York City. The benefits package is just decent, nothing spectacular. You definitely feel underpaid compared to direct hires doing similar work on client sites.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the compensation structure for consultants once they're on client placements. Better pay and enhanced benefits would significantly improve morale and retention.

Training's Okay, Client Work Varies Wildly
Pros: The initial FDM training program is pretty solid, especially for folks looking to break into entry-level tech roles. They give you a foundation and help you get certified. Some of my peers landed on chill client sites with good 9-5 hours.
Cons: The work-life balance here is a huge gamble. As an IT Consultant, your schedule totally depends on the client. I often had long hours, especially on demanding projects, which made WFH options almost nonexistent. It felt like I was always 'on call'.
Advice to Management: Try to ensure more consistent client placements regarding workload and hours. Having better transparency about potential client demands upfront would also help manage expectations for consultants.

Decent Start, But Pay Isn't Great Initially
Pros: As a Junior Consultant, getting into tech consulting was tough, so FDM gave me that first break. The initial training program is comprehensive, and it looks good on a resume for future roles. You do learn a lot of foundational skills quickly.
Cons: Pay here is definitely lower than average for the NYC market, especially during the training phase. It's a big step down from what you'd expect for an IT professional. Benefits are pretty standard, nothing to write home about, and the contract terms can feel restrictive.
Advice to Management: Consider increasing consultant pay, especially after the initial client placement. It's tough to retain talent when market rates are so much higher, especially for skilled IT roles.
