Good collaborative culture for automation engineers
Pros: The team environment here is genuinely collaborative. Everyone helps out, especially when deadlines hit on custom machine building projects. It's a great place to develop new skills as an Automation Engineer, and you get hands-on experience quickly.
Cons: Sometimes, the workload can get pretty intense, especially for onsite roles in Cambridge, Ontario. Work-life balance can suffer during major project crunch times. Communication from upper leadership isn't always super clear, which can be frustrating.
Advice to Management: Try to provide more support during peak project times to prevent burnout. Also, clearer communication from management would help everyone stay on the same page. A mid-sized company like ours thrives on transparency.

Job security is okay, some project shifts.
Pros: I liked working on those complex industrial automation projects. You learn a lot as an Automation Engineer. They have consistent work from manufacturing clients, so the business itself feels stable. Good for onsite work experience.
Cons: However, job security for individual roles can feel a bit volatile. Project cycles end, and sometimes redeployment isn't super quick. It's not like a big tech company with endless internal transfers for specific custom automation solutions.
Advice to Management: Communicate upcoming project pipelines and potential role transitions more proactively. It would really help with employee anxiety regarding job security.

Good company, but flexibility needs work
Pros: The work itself is pretty engaging. You learn a lot about custom machinery and robotics integration. The team is generally supportive, and there's a strong sense of getting projects done. It's a stable job in the industrial automation sector.
Cons: Work flexibility is a real challenge. As an Automation Engineer, you're expected to be onsite in Cambridge, ON most of the time. Hybrid work options aren't really there for many, even when it feels like they could be. This makes work-life balance a struggle sometimes.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing more flexible work arrangements for roles that don't strictly require constant onsite presence. A better hybrid model would boost morale, especially for engineers.

Demanding projects impact personal time
Pros: The team is solid and you work on some genuinely cool industrial automation projects. It's never boring, and you learn a lot about different manufacturing processes. The benefits package is decent.
Cons: The work-life balance here is tough, especially as an Automation Engineer. You're constantly putting in long hours to meet project deadlines. It's not uncommon to work weekends, which really impacts personal time. There's not much flexibility for onsite staff.
Advice to Management: Try to better scope projects and consider staffing levels to avoid constant overtime. It would help a lot with employee burnout, especially for the core engineering team.
