Ekco's Remote Work is Okay, Has Its Moments.

Ekco offers decent work flexibility, particularly for remote roles like a Cloud Engineer. It's not perfect, as some teams and projects can be more demanding, but it's manageable for the most part. The company has a solid foundation for hybrid work.

Pros

I've been a Cloud Engineer here for a bit, and the remote work flexibility is pretty solid. It's great to manage my own schedule for personal stuff, especially being remote from Ireland. For many IT solutions roles, you can make it work.

Cons

Sometimes, it feels less flexible, especially when client projects hit crunch time. Not all teams get the same level of freedom, which can be frustrating. You're expected to be available during standard business hours even with remote work.

Advice to Management

Try to standardize flexibility policies across all departments and project teams. It would help improve work-life balance for all employees, especially those in demanding IT services roles.

Good start, but growth is slow
Pros: As a Junior Software Engineer, I got solid training when I joined. My team lead was good at mentorship. It's a stable company in the cloud services industry if you just want to learn the ropes.
Cons: Career growth here is tough. There aren't many clear promotion paths, and it felt like I was stuck. Raises are slow to come by, even after taking on more responsibility. The hybrid work model also means less face time for visibility with senior leadership.
Advice to Management: Create clearer career paths and promotion criteria for all roles. Invest more in internal development programs and make sure managers are actively advocating for their team members' growth, especially in the Dublin office.

Ekco's Culture: Good People, Growing Pains
Pros: As a Cloud Engineer here, I've worked with some genuinely smart and supportive folks in the Dublin office. There's a decent sense of team spirit, and they do try to offer a hybrid work model, which is nice.
Cons: The company culture can feel a bit fragmented sometimes, especially with the rapid growth. It's tough to get clear communication from leadership, and that really impacts cross-team collaboration.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving internal communication and creating a more unified culture across different departments. It'd help a lot with retention and employee morale.

Solid work-life balance for cloud roles
Pros: I've found the work-life balance okay, especially as a Cloud Engineer. The hybrid model is a huge plus, giving me some flexibility from the Dublin office. We mostly stick to 40-hour weeks, which is good for this industry.
Cons: Sometimes, there's pressure during major client projects, which is typical for managed IT services. It can be tough to completely switch off then. Overtime isn't common, but it does pop up when things get crazy.
