Solid Place for Tech Careers in FinTech
Pros: I've had a really positive experience working as a Software Engineer at FIS in the financial technology industry. The teams are super supportive, and there are tons of opportunities to learn new technologies, especially in FinTech. It's a very stable environment, which is great, and I feel like I've really grown my skills here. The company culture is pretty collaborative, and I appreciate the hybrid work model from our Jacksonville, FL office.
Cons: The main downsides are that some of our systems can feel a bit like legacy tech, which can slow things down. Also, sometimes the approval processes for new initiatives can be a little bureaucratic. While work-life balance is generally good, it can get pretty busy during major release cycles, which is typical for our industry.
Advice to Management: Continue to invest in modernizing core systems and look for ways to streamline internal approval processes to boost efficiency and innovation.

Work-life balance is okay, but it depends
Pros: As a Financial Software Engineer, the hybrid work model in the Jacksonville, FL office is a big plus. It's nice to have some control over my schedule, and teams generally respect your personal time when projects aren't in a crunch.
Cons: When there are deadlines, especially in fintech development, it's easy to get pulled into long hours. You can often feel pressure to work past 5 PM, which can hurt your overall work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Try to enforce healthier work boundaries during crunch times. Managers should actively discourage constant overtime for fintech development teams to improve overall well-being.

Remote Work is Okay, But Watch Your Team
Pros: I liked the fully remote setup. As a Software Engineer, not having a commute was a huge plus for my work-life balance. Benefits are solid for a big corporate company, too.
Cons: The work volume can be heavy, especially when dealing with legacy fintech solutions. Some teams have unreasonable deadlines. It's easy to work more than 40 hours if you're not careful.
Advice to Management: Management needs to standardize workload expectations across teams. Better resource allocation for key projects would help prevent burnout among developers working on critical financial technology.
