Solid Engineering Firm with Collaborative Culture
Pros: As a Process Engineer at Lycopodium's Perth office, I've really appreciated the collaborative atmosphere. My colleagues are genuinely supportive, creating a great environment for sharing knowledge and tackling complex projects in the mining industry. There are ample opportunities for professional development, allowing me to build valuable skills and contribute to diverse and impactful engineering solutions. It's a stable engineering firm overall.
Cons: While there's much to like, project deadlines can sometimes lead to periods of high workload, occasionally making it a bit challenging for work-life balance, especially for an onsite engineering role. I also think some of the internal administrative and approval processes could be more efficient; they can feel a little cumbersome and slow things down when you're trying to move projects forward quickly.
Advice to Management: Consider streamlining some of the internal administrative and approval workflows to improve efficiency and reduce potential bottlenecks during busy project phases.

Okay Work Flexibility for Engineering
Pros: They offer a pretty decent hybrid model, usually 2-3 days WFH if your project allows it. This is good for an engineering firm, especially for us Project Engineers who are often onsite. It helps a lot with personal appointments.
Cons: The flexibility really depends on the project phase and client demands. Sometimes you're just stuck in the Perth office five days a week for a big mining industry project. It's not always consistent, and some managers are less accommodating than others.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize the hybrid model across all teams and projects. Managers need clearer guidelines on offering work-from-home options, even during busy periods. Consistency would really help employee morale.

Solid place, but project peaks are tough.
Pros: Lycopodium is a decent `mid-size firm` to get your `engineering project` experience. As a `Project Engineer`, you get to work on some cool projects. When things aren't crazy, the standard hours are pretty manageable, which is nice.
Cons: However, `work-life balance` can totally disappear during crunch times for `mining consulting` projects. You're expected to put in long hours to meet deadlines. There isn't much `work flexibility` when projects are really tight, which is a bummer.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project loads to prevent burnout. More focus on actual `work flexibility` would help retain talent, especially when things aren't critical.
