Pros: The health insurance and pension plans are pretty solid here at Nordic Semiconductor, which is a big plus. You also get a good amount of vacation days, which helps with work-life balance for embedded systems roles. They do offer some decent perks in the Trondheim office like subsidized canteen food and good coffee.
Cons: Base salaries for Firmware Engineer positions often feel a bit low compared to the market, especially for our experience in the semiconductor industry. There's not much room for significant pay increases year over year unless you get a major promotion, which can be tough. The bonus structure isn't super transparent or impactful, so don't count on big extras.
Advice to Management: Review the salary bands for engineering roles, especially Firmware Engineers, to be more competitive with other tech companies in Norway. Make the bonus system clearer and more rewarding to attract and retain top talent.
