Leadership is a mixed bag at SiteMinder
Pros: Some of the senior leaders are genuinely smart and have deep knowledge of the hospitality tech space. For us Product Managers, there's usually a good amount of autonomy to own our projects.
Cons: There's often a pretty big disconnect between executive leadership and what's happening on the ground in the Sydney office. Key decisions from the top can shift without much warning, which makes planning tough. It feels like they could really improve communication consistency.
Advice to Management: Work on bridging the gap between senior leadership and individual contributors. More consistent communication and decision-making would really help everyone plan better and feel more aligned.

Good folks, but culture is shifting
Pros: The teams are really friendly. People in the Sydney office generally want to help you out. It's a solid place for gaining experience in the hospitality tech industry.
Cons: The company culture has shifted quite a bit lately. It feels a lot more corporate now, especially for those in SaaS roles. Some of the original startup vibe is gone, and communication isn't always clear.
Advice to Management: Try to preserve some of the startup culture that made SiteMinder special. Improve internal communication, especially regarding strategic changes and their impact on engineering teams.

Okay job security, but change is constant
Pros: The work for a Software Engineer is usually interesting, and the hybrid model works well for my schedule. I've learned a lot working on different hospitality software solutions. The team is generally supportive.
Cons: Job security here is a real concern. They often restructure teams, and projects can get cut unexpectedly, which is tough. It creates a lot of uncertainty, especially in the Sydney office. You never really know what's next.
Advice to Management: Management needs to be more upfront about company direction and avoid constant team reorgs. It makes people really nervous about their future here.
