Solid Place for a Banking Career in Sydney
Pros: What I really like about working here is the team environment. Everyone's generally pretty supportive, which makes a big difference in a demanding industry like banking. There are also lots of internal training and development programs, so you can always pick up new skills or look into different areas. The job security at a major bank like ANZ is also a huge plus, especially with the hybrid work option available for my role in Sydney.
Cons: Sometimes, the processes can feel a bit slow and bureaucratic, especially when you need approvals for new projects or initiatives. Also, while there are growth paths, promotions can sometimes take longer than you'd expect, which might be typical for a big corporate environment. It's not a deal-breaker, but something to be aware of.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining some of the internal approval processes to speed up decision-making, and perhaps clarify career progression paths for junior staff a bit more.

Solid Benefits, But Pay Needs Review
Pros: The benefits package at ANZ is pretty comprehensive. Things like health insurance are solid, and the superannuation contributions are definitely above average for financial services. We also get some decent discounts on banking products.
Cons: Honestly, the base salary for a Data Analyst isn't amazing here, especially in the Melbourne office. I feel like I could earn more elsewhere for similar responsibilities. Raises aren't huge year-over-year either.
Advice to Management: Review the salary bands for individual contributor roles like Data Analyst. You're losing good talent because compensation isn't competitive enough, especially in key tech areas.

Okay place to work, but culture is tough
Pros: ANZ is a big corporate bank, so job security is pretty solid. They've got a decent hybrid work model for Senior Business Analysts in the Melbourne office, which I appreciated.
Cons: The company culture can be really bureaucratic and slow-moving. It's tough to get new ideas off the ground, and there's a lot of old-school thinking in certain departments for banking operations.
Advice to Management: Work on fostering more innovation and empower teams to make decisions faster. Try to break down some of the internal silos that slow things down.
