Solid Pay and Benefits for Engineers
Pros: The salary for a Mechanical Engineer is quite competitive in the Cincinnati, OH area. They offer good health insurance and a solid 401k match, which really helps your financial planning. It's a very stable corporate environment in the industrial engineering field.
Cons: While the base pay is good, bonuses aren't always super consistent or transparent. Some of the benefits like dental and vision could definitely use an upgrade. Getting a raise can sometimes feel like a slow process, even for experienced manufacturing professionals.
Advice to Management: Management should make the bonus structure more predictable and clear for all employees. Also, regular and more proactive salary reviews would go a long way in retaining talent, especially in specialized engineering roles.

Automation Engineer

Decent place, but flexibility varies.
Pros: As an Automation Engineer, I liked the hybrid model initially. You could work remote a couple days, which was nice for personal errands. For industrial engineering projects, it helps a lot not commuting daily to the Louisville, KY office.
Cons: Lately, they've pushed for more onsite work. It's tough when you're used to more WFH options. Project deadlines also mean long hours, which can kill any work flexibility you thought you had.
Advice to Management: Try to maintain and even improve the hybrid work options. It really helps retain good engineering talent, especially for project-based work in industrial automation. Don't backtrack on flexibility.

Okay work-life balance for an engineer
Pros: For most engineering roles, especially entry-level ones, the hours are usually pretty solid, around 45 a week. You're generally on-site but weekends are usually free. It's a pretty stable corporate environment, which is good for job security.
Cons: Sometimes project deadlines, particularly in the manufacturing sector, mean late nights are unavoidable. There's not much work flexibility for office staff; remote or hybrid options are rare. It's tough if you're looking for a lot of WFH.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more hybrid options for roles where it makes sense and doesn't impact operational efficiency. It would really help retain talent, especially for younger industrial engineers who value flexibility.
