Solid Place to Work in Disability Services
Pros: I really appreciate the supportive team culture at Aruma. We all help each other out in disability services. The training is decent for client support, and as a larger not-for-profit, it feels like a stable job.
Cons: Work schedules can be demanding with last-minute shifts. Career progression sometimes feels a bit slow; clearer paths for advancement would be great to see.
Advice to Management: I'd suggest management explore more structured career development pathways for Disability Support Workers and continue to review staffing levels to minimize last-minute shift pressures.

Culture is decent, but big company challenges.
Pros: The teams are generally solid; you really connect with colleagues. There's a good mission focus in disability services, which feels rewarding. Supporting NDIS participants daily is why most of us are here.
Cons: Sometimes it feels like upper management is out of touch with frontline staff, especially for those of us in regional NSW. The company culture can get pretty stressed when workloads spike, typical for a large not-for-profit.
Advice to Management: Focus on better communication channels for Disability Support Workers. Check in on staff well-being more often, especially in busy periods.

Good Entry, Slow Climb for Support Roles
Pros: Aruma is a solid place to gain initial experience as a Disability Support Worker, especially for those new to the NDIS sector. They offer decent training when you start. It's fine for getting real-world experience in disability services.
Cons: Honestly, career growth here is pretty tough for care roles. Opportunities to move up are really slow, and internal promotions aren't very common. It feels like there's not a clear pathway for advancement beyond your initial role.
Advice to Management: Create more defined career pathways for Disability Support Workers and invest in internal leadership development. It would really help retain experienced staff.
