Okay work-life for security pros, some caveats.
Pros: You get decent pay for cybersecurity roles in Australia. The hybrid work model helps a lot, letting me split time between home and the Melbourne office. The team is usually supportive, which makes tough client engagements a bit easier.
Cons: Work-life balance can get rough during urgent client incident response. It's not a strict 9-5 for Security Consultant roles, especially if a breach happens. Sometimes, project deadlines just mean late nights, even with hybrid work.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project scope better and staff more for peak times. It would help prevent burnout among cybersecurity professionals.

Decent for some, tough for others
Pros: The hybrid work model is a huge plus, offering good flexibility if your team allows it. For general security analyst roles, you can often keep a pretty standard 40-hour week. The Melbourne office environment is generally supportive when you're there.
Cons: Incident response work can be really demanding, sometimes leading to long hours and on-call rotations. It's not always easy to switch off, which impacts work-life balance, especially for those in client-facing cybersecurity consulting. The pressure to meet client deadlines can override personal time.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize workloads across teams, especially for incident response, to prevent burnout. More clear guidelines on after-hours expectations for cybersecurity consulting roles would help.

Work-life balance is okay, depends on projects
Pros: I've had decent flexibility, especially working hybrid from the Melbourne office. Some teams really respect personal time. You can learn a lot in the Australian cybersecurity industry here, which is great for your career.
Cons: Project deadlines can be crazy, leading to long hours. Sometimes I felt pressure to be available late for clients. It wasn't always easy to switch off, especially with the demanding nature of some client engagements.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage client expectations and resource allocation. It would help reduce the intense crunch times.
