Pay is okay, but could be better.

Working at Keyloop has its ups and downs, especially regarding compensation. The pay isn't terrible, but it definitely feels like it lags behind similar roles in the tech industry, particularly for specialized automotive software positions. Benefits are pretty standard, nothing too exciting.


Pros

They offer a decent pension plan, which is a solid plus. For a corporate environment in automotive software, the overall benefits package isn't terrible, especially the healthcare options. There's a feeling of stability.


Cons

The base salary for a Software Engineer here in the Marlow office feels a bit low compared to current market rates. Raises aren't huge, and sometimes it feels like pay doesn't fully match the workload, especially when working on complex dealer management systems. Compensation isn't very competitive.


Advice to Management

Regularly review compensation packages to ensure they are competitive with the broader tech and automotive software industries. Invest more in base salaries and performance-based bonuses to retain talent, especially for key technical roles.

Hybrid work is okay, but could be better
Pros: The hybrid model is a decent step for a mid-sized tech company in the automotive retail tech space. We get 2 WFH days a week, which helps with commute to the London office. It's good to have some flexibility for personal appointments too.
Cons: The mandated 3 days in the office feels a bit rigid for a software engineer role. Sometimes there's not a clear reason to be onsite, especially if your team is remote. It's tough to get full remote work, even for senior roles.
Advice to Management: Consider more flexibility beyond the 3-day office rule, especially for certain roles that don't need constant physical presence. Trust employees more to deliver from anywhere.
