Pros: The teams are pretty chill most of the time. We do have decent WFH options for hybrid model workers, which helps avoid the San Francisco commute a few days a week. When there aren't deadlines, it's pretty standard 40-hour weeks.
Cons: Crunch time for major releases or live ops issues can be brutal. You'll definitely see late nights and weekend work then. It's tough as a Software Engineer to avoid the pressure when projects are behind, which impacts personal time.
Advice to Management: Try to better forecast project timelines and resource needs to avoid last-minute crunch periods. Better planning would really help the Software Engineer teams.
